In 1976, at age 16 Jim Robinson began producing hole deburring tools with his father William R Robinson. 18 years later, he received his first patent for a micro hole deburring tool which has sold tens of thousands of units since. In 2002, with the goal of producing a more cost effective and easy-to-use alternative to what was available in the marketplace, Robinson founded Michigan Deburring Tool. For the first several years he focused on custom, application specific tools. In 2006, after receiving another patent, Michigan Deburring began producing their small hole Modular tools as a standard off the shelf product. The product line was again expanded in 2014 with the introduction of the AutoLock tools for larger holes.
Robinson and Michigan Deburring have always been the sole producer of the micro hole deburring cartridges he designed way back in 1992. Although marketed and distributed by their competitors for all these years, Michigan Deburring now offers these tools exclusively to both distributors and end users alike.
Looking to the future, and with his son now working for him, Robinson plans to continue growth through future product offerings.
